Hi Shara,

We are so sorry to hear your news. At least you are ok! I have sent you an email with our phone number if you need help with anything. We’re in Uganda for the next 2 weeks or so. I really hope you are able to get the car repaired and it isn’t too expensive.

Hey guys, good to see you having a great time. See this was posted around 2 weeks ago and wondering where you might be now. I’m in Nairobi with a bit of a buggered rig… bus decided it might be a good idea to overtake me on the road to the Mara. I was indicating that my intention was to turn right and he was driving with his eyes shut. Cue the overaking of a turning car and the result is, no prizes here… a big high speed crash in the middle of nowhere. Thank goodness I have friends of friends (Chrissy and Lovat, owners of Carnelley’s – awesome place hey?) and their friend drove from Naivasha to come sort me out. So now I wait with baited breath, with my LC in with Toyota who are assessing the damage, to see if I can fix and carry on, or whether I need to scrap (in which case I will simply lose all reason to live). Anyhow, updates soon please! And SAFE travels, no crazy overtaking, no matter how frustrating! Shara

A Lilac breasted roller? Seriously? Well a bird is a bird! My mind is blown! Keep a look out though, you could see some other birds if you look very hard! You have to look in ordinary places and unordinary places, but mostly you have to be alert, especially for the rare ones. Good twitchers look for goodies like the blue breasted duvet thrasher and boobies, amongst others. But a lilac breasted roller is a good start!

Ps, remember its all downhill once u cross the equator, just try not to let things go south.
